چکیده

as being due to a trapping of injected tumor cells as a result of marked swelling of Kupffer cells with sinusoidal occlusion and hepatic parenchymal damage which was observed after the administration of both Thorotrast and India ink. These mechanisms abrogate the necessity of relating such an effect to an inhibitory action of these agents on a specific activity of the reticuloendothelial system associated with tumor resist ance. Established hepatic métastasesof Walker 256 carcinoma fail to influence the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system as disclosed by a normal blood clearance of carbon particles. Similarly carbon clearance was normal when observed in animals 14 days after tumor cell injection but in whom hepatic métastaseswere not demonstrable

Experimental studies of factors influencing hepatic metastases. V. Effect of cortisone and adrenalectomy.

The incidence of hepatic metastases in rats subjected to intraportal injection of 5,000 Walker 256 carcinosarcoma cells was similar in rats receiving cortisone and their pair-fed controls. This result was obtained whether cortisone was given prior to, after, or preceding and following the injection of tumor cells. Both cortisone-treated and pair fed control rats exhibited significantly fewer me...

Experimental Studies of Factors Influencing Hepatic Metastases. Xiv. Effect of Prolactin.

Intrapenitoneal administration of ovine prolactin increased the incidence and size of hepatic metastases in hypophysectomized female rats following intraportal injection of Walker tumor cells. Such treatment increased the size but not incidence of tumors in intact females and had no effect on either parameter in intact or hypophyseetomized males. Prolactin elicited ductal and end-bud mammary gr...

Local Factors Affecting Tumor Growth. I. Effect of Tissue Homogenates.

incidence of hepatic metastases is greatly aug mented by either direct hepatic trauma (3) or liver damage induced by a variety of other modalities such as alteration of hepatic blood flow (4), inter ference with reticuloendothelial function (7), or cirrhosis produced with carbon tetrachioride ,(8). In addition, growth of dormant tumor cells has been stimulated by hepatic injury (5). The precise...

Comparison between the Effects of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Dill and Statins on Lipid Profile

Background and Aims: A transient increase of blood concentration of lipids after meal is able to increase the risk of atherogenesis. This study aimed to determine the effects of Anethum graveolens L. (dill) consumption on atherosclerosis and hepatic risk factors. Methods: In an experimental study, 32 male New Zealand rabbits were randomly allocated to four groups to receive normal diet, a d...

Protection of rats from thioacetamide-induced hepatic fibrosis by the extracts of a traditional Uighur medicine Cichorium glandulosum

Objective(s):To clarify the protective effects of Cichorium glandulosum (CG) extracts on thioacetamide (TAA)-induced rat hepatic fibrosis. Materials and Methods: The dry roots of CG were smashed and percolated with 95% ethanol, and the residual was prepared into petroleum ether extract (CG-V), ethyl acetate extract (CG-VI) and n-butyl alcohol extract (CG-VII). Thirty-six Wistar rats were random...
